By Brenda Lee Lau

GENRE: Family, Comedy
LOGLINE:

When 25 year old Happa Wai Ku travels to his father's homeland to teach English, DJ and play soccer it's a culture clash of hilarious proportions!  Think The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air meets Crazy Rich Asians

SYNOPSIS:

Inspired my personal story and my stepson's journey. West Coast Wai Kiu of Hong Kong is a fish out of water dramedy filled with loveable characters, foreign incidents, cultural clashes, and even though these relationships are fraught with misunderstandings and lost-in-translations at the core of this show is the love of family across generations, cultures and oceans.

Think The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air meets Crazy Rich Asians.

Imagine 20 something Wai Kiu moving to his father’s homeland to teach English even though he doesn’t speak a word of Cantonese or Mandarin. Wai Kiu has met his Hong Kong relatives on brief visits throughout his life but has never truly embraced his Father’s culture or fully understood the differences.

Wai Kiu is a product of the care-free Westside of Los Angeles and immerses himself in his father’s polar opposite disciplined Chinese Culture. His Hong Kong family members and friends are well-heeled, well-connected, well-educated and not sure how to react to their American Nephew’s way of life and they try to help Wai Kiu on his road to finding his place in this world.
