Has anyone tried Amazon Studios?
I'd be very curious about that too Noe. I just read about them greenlighting their first project yesterday and wondered... The first project is a children's story, I believe.
It is worth trying to check it out.
Their option period is way too long for me so I passed but if you have something you don't plan on shopping around then go for it.

Plus they tweeted about it to their 40,000 followers. Certainly worth a shot on any scripts you aren't shopping around.
Just got my rejection letter after the 45-day option. Now going to send my script to several producers listed with InkTip.
Does anyone else register with WGA before submitting a script to a screenwriting competition? Or, am I just being paranoid?
With a Texas accent? Hoops of Steel! That sounds like my kind of woman - a woman born to grapple! ;-)
Grapple not, let ye be grappled!
I just heard your lovely accent... Do you take song requests?
Hey Stephanie, can you sing Volare???
Stephanie - Always.

I expect publication to be completed in about four weeks time. The anti-hero is a criminal but, without doubt, a very interesting character. I run a business but write in my spare time but because I find it so enjoyable I am now spending more time on writing. As I am sure everybody is aware, TV and films are the only routes to success hence the desperate need for an accomplished script writer- is anybody out there?? I have also determined to fictionalise the character and indeed, work has begun already on this ambitious project. Not yet 100% sure how to use this website but I'm getting there. All for now.
Unfortunately I am not published yet, but still trying. I am from Boston, MA
Great good luck with it! Where are you publishing?
I haven't secured any publisher yet. I'm still working on finished manuscript.
There are tons of books that are successes without the help of film or tv (which usually comes well after the book is a bestseller.)

Expand commentI know tons of great writers who have never had a movie made from one of their books. Believe me it is very lucrative all on it's own. Of course having the offer of a movie to be made from your novel would be thrilling. If it happens they will provide a screenwriter. I write for writings sake, it is my passion. Even if I'm never published, (though of course I would like to be), I will still feel fulfilled having done what makes me happy.

I'm having trouble getting anyone to actually read it. I've sent query letters to producers, agents, and producers via email without so much as spec of response. I've also sent 3-4 faxes to a few studios with similar success. I've also thought about starting a kickstarter campaign, but am not sure how to go about that regarding getting my screenplay read by a potential buyer or someone that can help me sell it. I am just now making the means to start entering screenwriting contests and film fests, but I'd also like to continue persuing other options. Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Gerad, I know exactly how you feel ... I'm in the same boat. Good luck to you!
Gerad, send me the first five pages of your screenplay and I'll happily give you honest feedback.
Hi, I'd love to see your query letter. You can paste it into a message to me? Maybe I can send you one of mine as well and you can let me know what you think?

Expand commentThe advice above about having your screenplay and query letter in world-class form cannot be overemphasized. A first screenplay has to be flawless. As a general rule of thumb, it's easier to get a manager than an agent. They are more open to new writers. I'd check out donedealpro.com on the forums, those folks have up-to-date contact info on everybody. Even better than imdb!! Just be advised, there's a lot of "career amateurs" there who don't seem very interested in getting to the next level. Eventually, if you got 5-6 solid screenplays written and nobody's biting, it's probably time to start looking at shooting something yourself.
Warren, I think it is what been happening lately. One movie comes to my mind is, Another Earth.

Shortly after starting my first screenplay class I found the Willamette Writers of Portland, OR. This group has a wonderful conference that has been a wealth of information and inspiration. A screenwriting conference in LA inspired me to attend one year. The contacts I made there were also invaluable. It is my plan to develop the right screenplay for the right producer, and it will be within the next two years. With screenplays that focus on drama and the unseen world, both of which I consider myself well versed in, the feeling is my plan continues on track. Screenplay number one placed in the quarter finals of a national competition and has received very favorable reviews from readers since. There are producers on both the East and West coast who have asked to see whatever I write. This in itself is very encouraging and boosts my confidence level even higher. Stage 32 is one more arrow in my quiver that will help my plan to reach its target.
Thanks for the tip on Willamette Writers! I have been aware of them for years but have never checked them out. I just did and joined them immediately.
Good for you. Say hi to Cynthia and Bill for me. There are many others but that's a start. :)
Don't know who they are yet, but I'm sure I soon will.

I have had two scripts optioned in the past, and another made the quarter finals of the Page contest, but nothing actually sold or produced. It's frustrating, as I'm sure you know. I've actually begun studying anime (via Anime Studio) with the thought of telling my own stories. Well, the really short ones, at least. I'm also in a redefinition phase, trying to discover what type of stories I love and do best. My current stories are all over the place: dark comedy, action adventure, magical realism, and more. Maybe joining Stage 32 is part of that process.
