About Ry

I just moved to Portland for a few months en route back to LA! Let's create something!

I became a filmmaker to craft and convey stories that promote positive social change. Storytelling is one of the most powerful forms of communication, and whether crafting narrative films that offer hope and strength, or documentary stories that bring awareness, I want to make a positive impact.

I have been a writer, photographer and musician since my early youth, but it is the combination of all three – the weaving of words, images and sound – that I find powerful and addicting. My passion for documentary storytelling is rooted in a range of social issues – including environment, food security, and various human rights. These are among the causes that guided my career efforts prior to filmmaking. My path has taken me from agricultural preservation to government consulting & regulatory design, to product development and strategic planning for hybrids and electric cars…and finally, to my passion and purpose: filmmaking.

Yes, I really do write, direct, shoot AND edit and I'm not above any role if I like the project. I work on documentary, narrative and commercial films and like to have projects going of each kind in order to always be doing something new. I'm always looking to surround myself and work with creative people so let me know what you're up to!
