Mahonri is a national award-winning playwright, screewriter, and educator who writes probing historical dramas and soaring fantasy-adventures. He earned an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Arizona State University and has placed as a semi-finalist, quarterfinalist, and an honorable mention in prominent screenplay contests such as ScreenCraft, WeScreenplay, and the Big Apple Film Festival. He recently received a high score of an 8 from The Black List for his most awarded screenplay WRIGHTSBOROUGH.
Mahonri has two screenplays currently optioned (JIMMY STEWART GOES TO HOLLYWOOD and EMPEROR WOLF) with Motion Foundry Studios and Park City Pictures. He has been featured on Coverfly's Red List for both WRIGHTSBOROUGH (Historical, top 5% Overall) and PROSPERO'S ISLAND (Fantasy and Fantasy TV, Top 7% Overall).
Two dozen of Mahonri's plays have been produced in both Europe and the United States and received numerous awards for his dramatic work, including the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s National Playwriting Award (Second Place) and their National Selection Team Fellowship for his debut play FAREWELL TO EDEN.
