About Juan

My name is Juan Ignacio Ottobre and I am a freelance Film Director and a screenwriter from Argentina. I studied at the University of Buenos Aires in 2016 and worked in Tauro Digital Sound as an administrative intern and as an assistant in the Foley Department until 2022. In 2018, I shot my first short film "The Fall of a Privateer", a movie that talks about the last days of Admiral William Brown, and with it, I participated in several film festivals in India where I received several nominations and even win my first award as "Best Cinematography" at the Kolkata Film Festival. In 2022, I also participated in a summer course at the University of Southern California and have the chance to visit Warner Brothers studio and also even worked on a short film that I made with my classmates as an assistant director. Aside from that, my goal is to be a film director and a screenwriter and for that, I have written a lot of feature scripts that I eagerly hope to pitch. My main interest is the historical genre that combines historical fiction with a lot of action, like Gladiator. However, I'm also a huge fan of science fiction and everything that includes contact between extraterrestrial beings and humans or even the mysteries of space are a theme that I hope to explore and if possible pitch to a producer. My biggest influence to be a filmmaker are directors like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Brian de Palma, Martin Scorcese, and Argentinian film directors like Juan Jose Campanella. I believe that a good movie starts with a good script but to have one, you must give your characters a profound story that could give the spectators different feelings like loving them or hating them but at the same time, also understand them. In all of my scripts, I did that and for that reason, I want to show them to you. To improve my work and learn new things and more importantly, to make the best movie possible.
