The Next Star Wars—Warner Bros. 2025-2030 IP Universe: RITA—A Dystopian, Suspenseful, Philosophical Sci-Fi Epic!
Hello,
I hope this message finds you well.
I’m reaching out because you will help me push RITA forward at Warner Bros.
Logline:
In Los Angeles, a middle-aged Asian woman, a door-to-door solar sales representative, embarks on a journey to uncover the alien manipulation of her subconscious. As she struggles with family and financial pressures, she must travel between a utopian planet and Earth to confront the creator of this perfect world and save the universe, all while rediscovering her own destiny.
Why Warner Bros.?
RITA has immense market potential and expansion opportunities, capable of resonating with global audiences while also being developed into a multimedia IP universe.
The film combines the conflict between AI and human emotions, large-scale sci-fi adventure, and the journey of the protagonist, Xia, from an ordinary person to a hero. The rich world-building provides endless possibilities for spin-offs, video games, series, and more. Interactive entertainment (like VR and multiplayer games) can immerse audiences further into R Star and Xia’s adventures.
Additionally, the film explores deep philosophical themes such as humanity’s pursuit of immortality and perfection, making it not just a visual spectacle but a thought-provoking conversation on technology and ethics. This depth positions RITA for critical acclaim, with the potential to become a classic IP like Star Wars or The Matrix—a timeless experience that will continually engage audiences.
Synopsis:
Act 1: Xia, a Chinese immigrant, moves to Los Angeles post-pandemic and becomes a door-to-door solar sales representative. Struggling with cultural clashes, financial pressures, and the collapse of her dream to become a director, she is unaware that her life has been manipulated by an alien entity named Rita, who has implanted herself into Xia’s subconscious from birth.
Act 2: As strange events unfold, Xia begins to awaken. Guided by Rita, she starts to unravel the mysteries of her life, including her childhood, relationships, and time in prison. She realizes her decisions were never truly her own. Xia awakens her subconscious “Little Xia B,” and together, they begin to merge their consciousnesses, preparing to face the more powerful forces from R Star.
Act 3: In the climax, Xia travels to R Star, where she confronts Mr. R, the planet’s creator—a scientist from Earth’s steampunk era. He offers Xia immortality and control over Earth, but Xia laughs at the absurdity and demands to bring Rita back to Earth, allowing her to continue living within her until death. Xia’s fearless attitude toward death and symbiosis breaks Mr. R, making him realize that death and struggle are what give life meaning. Rita chooses to stay on R Star to rebuild, while Xia returns to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of directing. Her film Rita goes on to win an Oscar, and Xia finds that the hotpot after the Oscar ceremony tasted especially delicious…
Why RITA?
RITA tells a story of personal awakening and reclaiming one’s destiny, a narrative that resonates with global audiences. It blends philosophical depth with sci-fi elements, much like The Matrix, Blade Runner, and Cloud Atlas, and explores the subconscious in ways reminiscent of Moon. Its innovative storytelling transcends race, class, age, and even species, providing a universally relatable experience.
About Me:
I am Laura Zhang, a director, screenwriter, and top solar sales. I’ve been creating my own legend—from a middle-aged immigrant with limited English to leading a successful team of 30. I moved to Los Angeles with my family and only $200. As a filmmaker, my goal is to tell deeply human and philosophically engaging stories like RITA to audiences around the world. I’m confident that this project has both Oscar and Golden Globe potential, alongside tremendous commercial appeal and marketability.
I’m based in Los Angeles and would be happy to meet or discuss further. If you haven’t yet opened the attached Pitch Deck and treatment, please take a look! I look forward to hearing from you.
