Hattie Cooke

I am an emerging screenwriter, looking to take the next steps in my career, to work alongside producers and studios to develop exciting, new and original content for Film and TV. I have experience writing well-developed stories with dynamic characters, meeting deadlines and collaborating with directors and producers to meet creative goals. And I have a proven track record at exceeding expectations and going the extra mile.

In 2022 I won Best Short Screenplay at KIFF (Kingston International Film Festival) for my short screenplay ‘Hocknord.’ It is currently in Post Production, being edited by Oscar Nominated editor Kant Pan and director Mark Brennan. Also in 2022, I was selected as one of 25 rising Xilm makers to participate in ‘Film Makers 25’, a mentoring scheme supported by BFI, Channel 4, and The National Lottery to help emerging Xilm makers break into the industry.

This year, I graduated with a Distinction in Screenwriting from the Northern Film School. As part of my Final Project I worked alongside BAFTA legend Henry Normal to develop a pilot for ‘Under the Influence,’ a sitcom about influencer culture. More recently, I was chosen for the ‘Beyond Brontë s Scheme’ in association with Screen Yorkshire. Throughout this year, I have focused on giving back to the industry, first as a mentor for Screen Skills, to support people entering the film industry, and secondly as a volunteer script reader for KIFF.

As well as my writing achievements, I have also released three studio albums to critical acclaim, including my latest ‘Bliss Land’ which reached number 12 in the Official Indie Charts. All three albums were written, recorded and produced by myself. I also regularly help to raise money for charity through the use of my music on charity compilation albums. I am currently working on the soundtrack for an upcoming indie feature ‘Oubliette’ directed by Raphael Martinez.
