I was a professional firefighter for twenty-two years, and at one point got my writing fix crafting and revising fire department training manuals. Eventually, the terrors and triumphs of the job inspired me to attempt something that makes running into burning buildings look easy – creating decent fiction. When not agonizing over my latest draft, I enjoy hiking among Pacific Northwest evergreens and daydream about snorkeling off Kauai -- or maybe luring that perfect Montana trout to my favorite fly despite countless imperfect casts.
Unique traits: Adventured on horseback for over three years around the western US wilderness. At one time I also had the dubious distinction of being the oldest female professional firefighter in the Seattle area still doing the job of running an engine company and fighting fires.
