In a battle between reality and the supernatural, a troubled teenager named James meets Bradley in a psych ward, where he reveals the terrifying origins of his alter-ego, Joshua—a dark entity born from a dangerous mix of drug addiction and dark magic.
SYNOPSIS:
Darkness Expedition: Chronicles of Mind is a psychological horror short film that delves into the chilling tale of James, a 12-year-old boy who creates a sinister alter-ego named Joshua through dark magic. The story unfolds as Bradley, a 17-year-old patient at a psychiatric ward, meets James and listens to his haunting recount of events that led to his current state.
James reveals that his problems began when he was very young, riding his skateboard at the park, a time when he was carefree and curious. However, as he grew older, he fell into the grip of drug addiction, particularly Xanax, which exacerbated his mental health issues. One day, while his mother was busy at work, leaving him home alone, James began experimenting with dark magic—a fascination that quickly spiraled out of control.
In his solitude, James conjured a physical manifestation of his alter-ego, Joshua. This entity, with white eyes and blood dripping from them, represented the darkest corners of James' psyche. As Joshua grew stronger, he began to torment James, becoming a sinister force in his life. The terrifying presence of an underground cross symbolized the pact James unknowingly made with the dark forces he had unleashed.
As Bradley listens to James' story, he begins to realize the depth of the spiritual and psychological trauma that has shaped James' life. The film explores the consequences of playing with forces beyond one's understanding, the fragility of the human mind under the influence of drugs, and the thin line between reality and the supernatural.
