Back in December 2021 I bought a small book about crime in Edinburgh, Scotland and it re-ignited my passion for story telling, which led me on this journey into screenwriting.
The story was about Burke and Hare, two 19th century serial killers. I'd always felt previous productions of the story had been very disappointing, so I ventured to produce a screenplay that would not only capture the suspense and drama of the events but also the authenticity of the period, the characters and the societal disparity that played it's part in the story.
Researching and investigating all aspects for the project, I created a four part drama, which I would like to think takes the reader/audience into this world of crime, murder and suspense.
Through many reviews and re-drafts, I am now at the stage to try an find an agent to represent me and assist in taking the project to the next stage.
Meanwhile, I have a second screenplay near first draft completion, with four other stories in the pipeline for the future.
Whether I am successful or not is seeing any of my work make the screen, it has been a fulfilling venture for which I am very proud of what I have achieved to date.
