I am a Guatemalan screenwriter and English-Spanish translator. I started writing scripts initially as a hobby and more seriously since 2016. In recent years, I've written several scripts for a fun, fresh, 30-minute satirical anthology series in Spanish. They are universal, relatable stories with one thing in common: characters who lie, cheat, and show little regard for others.
Finding industry professionals willing to read my work, especially in countries with limited film production like Guatemala, has been challenging. Tired of waiting, I produced one of the shortest scripts I've written.
Tontatiempo is a four-minute short film about a habitually tardy mom who fabricates an excuse to avoid paying a late pickup fee at her daughter's daycare. This short reflects the same themes, tone, and essence of the 30-minute scripts I have written for the potential series.
I am submitting this short film to a few short film festivals. See how that goes. Check out the trailer here: https://youtu.be/6lCTu17CZwg
I can't wait to learn more about writing, directing, producing, editing, and filmmaking, in general.
