Father sold 16mm films to collectors. It's where I worked for several years, becoming a film buff in the process. Have also had many sales and retail management positions.
In the 70's I was hired as screening room projectionist at AIP under Larry Gordon, became friendly with John Milius and worked as an assistant on location with him.
Have taken many writing, screenwriting (have not yet finished my script for a romantic, sci-fi comedy about Hollywood) and comedy writing and stand-up workshops and classes (performed at The Improv, Hollywood Grille, Santa Monica Playhouse and The Comedy Store) and studied improv with a group called "Off The Wall" where I met Robin Williams.
Robin agreed to be the subject of my film class project about the creative process of improv. I still have the excellent quality audio recording of the interview I did with him at his apartment.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to participate the one day I had to film my short with the classes' 16mm equipment.
Thanks to Billy Crystal, I was able to lease short clips of the interview to HBO for their documentary. Not long after, I leased more of the interview to Disney for their documentary.
I'm currently offering to sell full rights (and original cassette tape), but no doors have opened yet!
Looking forward to getting back to that script..... and selling that interview!!
Mike
