About Laurent

Laurent Courbier is passionate about bringing together inspiring musicality and meaningful
storytelling through film, TV and video games.
His current work includes music for video games such as Honor of Kings, the world's most-played mobile MOBA game with 100 million daily players which won the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Mobile Video Game Score, Age of Empires Mobile (TiMi studio), Rogue Lords (also nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Video Game Score) and upcoming releases such as Synergy. He recently worked on the animated TV series Li Bai, Broken Moon (Tencent Pictures) based in the the world of Honor of Kings.
In 2024, his music for the Chinese video game Light and Night was performed live by star-pianist Lang Lang, for whom he specially re-arranged his work for piano and orchestra.

With more than 40 short-movies from world-leading animation schools (Gobelins, Ringling College of Art &
Design, Royal College of Art...) and creative filmmakers such as Pierre J. Secondi and Julien Pestel,
Laurent Courbier won multiple international awards including “Best Music Score” at the Filmapalooza
48HFP International film festival in Orlando and "Best Original Music" award at the Aniwow! festival in
Beijing.
In 2013, Laurent Courbier received the Golden Eye "Best International Film Music" at the Zurich Film
Festival by winning its prestigious international film music competition where his score was performed live
by the Zürcher Kammerorchester and Zurich Jazz Orchestra.
His collaboration with composers Erwann Kermorvant, Armand Amar and Guillaume Roussel got him to write
additional music for TV shows such as Happy! (Netflix) and Braquo (Canal+) as well as movies including Belle
& Sébastien 3, Mia & the White Lion and Donne-moi des ailes.
As an arranger, he worked with Nathalie Stutzmann, singer and conductor, on her album Quella Fiamma
(Warner classics), bringing back arias from the 17th and 18th centuries in their most authentic form.
His love for piano improvisation led him to release in 2024 Intimate Sketches, an album entirely improvised
in his studio, during the quiet hours of the morning and evening.
He studied composition at the Paris Superior Conservatory where he graduated in Harmony, Counterpoint
(1st prize) and Fugue (1st prize) in Thierry Escaich's class. He also graduated from the Lyon Conservatory
where he got his piano degree with highest honors and studied orchestration with Guillaume Connesson.
