Patrik Gyltefors is a renowned expert in game development and visual effects (VFX), with a strong background in computer graphics and simulation. He is currently based in Kamakura, Japan, and serves as the Technical Director of Gyltefors K.K., a position he has held since June 2007.
Patrik's interest in computer graphics began in the early 1990s when he created real-time graphics demos on the Amiga computer and developed his first ray-tracer.
He moved to Japan in the late 1990s to work on a simulation project related to thoracic currents during ventricular defibrillation. He then contributed to the development of a multi-platform game engine, focusing on particle systems, dynamics, and rendering.
After a brief stint in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Patrik founded his own company, assisting foreign corporations in establishing businesses in Japan and supporting a global sportswear manufacturer with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
He returned to game development and worked extensively on a video compositing engine. Notably, Patrik developed and published an indie game on Steam, leveraging Houdini for procedural environment generation, props, character assets, and VFX.
Patrik is proficient in several software tools, including Houdini, Nuke, Unity, and Unreal Engine. His expertise spans game development, VFX, and procedural content creation.
Patrik earned his Master's degree from Linköping University between 1993 and 1999.
He is fluent in Swedish, Japanese, and English,
