Cindy is the Managing Director at the Bayou Playhouse theatre located in Lockport LA.
She is born and raised on Bayou Lafourche and has a love for her Southern Louisiana heritage. She joined the Bayou Playhouse family in 2009 for Floating Palace of Season 1, and she has been dedicated to its growth ever since. She has been involved in every aspect of the theatre from backstage to House Management, and still handles all Box Office reservations. The Bayou Playhouse is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional theatre dedicated to preserving Lafourche Parish Cajun culture. The Playhouse opened its doors in 2008 by Artistic Director Perry Martin, Technical Director David Guidry and founding Producer Karissa Kary.
Although Cindy is fairly new to the theatre world, she is no stranger to community involvement and non-profit groups. Over the past 30 years she has served on numerous local groups sharing her time and talents. In 1982 she received the Rotary’s Community Service Award for outstanding service.
In 1990 she graduated from LSU with Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture and started her own design-built landscaping company shortly thereafter. Once again, she found herself volunteering around her community. She soon landed in the public sector as a department head; building the department from the ground up. In that role she learned many of the management skills that she uses as the Managing Director for the Bayou Playhouse. ‘’I am very excited about the opportunity to help develop the Playhouse and dedicated to its growth. I have learned the operations from every position from box office management to costume designer, and I feel that this has given me invaluable experience and understanding to draw from. I believe that this position at the playhouse is the logical next step for me’’.
