About Panagiotis

I was born in Athens on the 9th of December, 1976. While still in elementary school I had my first contact with music through guitar playing. Moreover, I was interested in video games from a young age, not only as a gamer, but also as an amateur designer. Later, and as a hobby, I attempted my first game designs, learned how to use programming languages and eventually developed my own games and tools.

However, programming was not my only pleasure, as I also delved early into music and sound design. Therefore, I studied Audio Engineering at the SAE technological institute (department of Athens) and received my diploma (2002) with top grades. Right after graduating, and up to day, I took over lecturing duties, not only at SAE, but in other faculties as well.

In 2004 I started working as a project leader in the Optical Media Mastering department development of the biggest optical media manufacturing company in Greece. In order to become more efficient I received training on Authoring, Mastering & Replication for Optical Media, by a leading optical technologies’ company, Singulus Mastering. Within a two years span, and while being in charge of the entire project, I managed to deliver a fully organized and productive department.

At the moment, I own a studio where I manage Sound Design and Music Composition for Video Games and work on productions for the Independent Scene. My expertise on Game Audio makes me probably the first one in Greece working on the respective field and has given me the opportunity to host a series of successful seminars related to designing and creating adaptive sound and music for video games.

I also have achievements as a producer in the Music Industry: the On Thorns I Lay album entitled “_egocentric” was voted by the press as one of the 8 most influential hardcore sound music albums ever to be produced in Greece. I have received credit from the free software community for participating as an Audio Director in Phoenix Online Studios, working on “The Silver Lining” a fan created game based on Sierra’s King’s Quest line of adventures, a title licensed by Vivendi Games.

Additionally, as a member of the AES (Audio Engineering Society), the GANG (Game Audio Network Guild), the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) and the HGDA (Hellenic Game Developers Association) I continue to innovate and go beyond commonly accepted boundaries on the development and evolution of new media and digital entertainment. Finally, during my free time, I enjoy searching for further advancements regarding the development of modern omnimedia, by taking part in various media, software and technology related development teams and projects.
