Nathaniel Brehmer's Lounge Discussions

I guess it's time to properly introduce myself. My name's Nathaniel Brehmer, and I'm a writer. I tried to start out in screenwriting right at the tail end of film school, had two projects optioned, one that I was going to direct... and then nothing. I'm extremely passionate about horror movies (all movies, really) and knew I needed to channel that passion into something professional so since early 2014 I've been working as a freelance writer for various entertainment sites including Dread Central, Wicked Horror, We Got This Covered, That's Not Current, Tom Holland's Terror Time and Dark Knight News.

I love what I get to do. I absolutely love getting to write about my favorite movies, talk about my favorite movies, interview my favorite filmmakers, review new films and spread the word about up-and-coming indie filmmakers. I love all of it. But my ultimate passion is still to write (and ultimately direct) feature films. Writing is now both my night and day job as I work on all the online content during the day and I write whatever screenplay I'm currently working on at night. Just to be writing is the best feeling in the world. But to actually sell something in the foreseeable future wouldn't be too bad either.

I can't wait to genuinely start connecting with people and taking advantage of this truly, truly amazing resource. The film community is so wide and small at the same time, so scattered, that to have a converging point online is something that really can't be taken for granted.

I've got a completed script for a single location, micro-budget horror feature, that could easily be made for pennies but these days even pennies are hard to come by. Any ideas on investors I should reach out to that would be a good place to start? Or maybe some helpful methods I might not have considered? Anything helps!
