good luck, Lauren, keep dreaming big and you will make it happen. A few thoughts/tips; 1. get someone close to you that you can trust but also who has some experience and hopefully someone you have known for quite a while OR someone clever and astute who can help you make sure that the team you assemble are doing it for the right reasons and are fundamentally going to be part of your TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More). 2. Get contracts from the word go and if there is no pay make sure you stipulate these kinds of things, the devil is in the detail and some people can be manipulating (not many out there from my experience but it only takes 1) 3. Communicate clarity and know what you want - Everyone likes a leader who knows what the plan is, even if this means delegating and asking. There are so many ways to trip up (part of the learning curve I know) and thats fine, but you just don't want any small trip to be fatal. Finally, All this is meant to help you go for your dreams with your eyes wide open and if a few points from my short movie making learning curve can help then I'm happy to share! I needed to raise a pretty large amount of money in a very short time for my film that's in pre-production. I don't expose people or BLOW them up in public posts...not my style. But someone did something very kind for me without even asking or telling me in advance...just did it. Random acts of kindness that are shown to me often shock me. I'm used to struggling for everything that comes my way. If I'm not making it happen...it doesn't. This person has done this before. I get a package in the mail, it's cupcakes and candy. Why, because I happen to mention that I liked cupcakes and dark chocolate. There are two HOT WHEELS inside too because I said I wanted a new Ford Cobra Mustang and Harley Davidson someday. They were both there. Something similar happen again one day but different. And NOW this. I can't tell you what it is because it embarrasses me. But it changed my life. It made it so I didn't have to sell the rights to screenplay... something I didn't want to have to do. It's hard for me to write this because I'm getting emotional. How do you say thank you to that...so that it is meaningful and understood? I'm happy and sad at the same time. Weird I know... People are sometimes kind to you for no other reason then because the believe in you and they take notice to how hard you're working to succeed and the talent you have and they just do things out of the kindness of their hearts and for no other reason. It leaves me in AWE of them as human being to give for the sake of giving expecting nothing in return.
