I am a screenwriter with an MA in Scriptwriting from Bath Spa University in the UK. I am a published author.
I write, direct (sometimes act) and produce my own low budget scripts. I always write with budget in mind because I think that gives the script the best chance of being produced. Having said that, I do have my high concept mega budget scripts too.
I am a well traveled Irishman. I have lived in Ireland, UK, Australia (I'm an Aussie too), Croatia, France. I am currently living in Warsaw, Poland.
My writing; It is about character. The plot is important but character is story. It is the character, and the changes going on within the character, that governs the plot. The dramatic question is: Who are you? But we only ask this of characters who have truly come to life in our minds and hearts. Only then will we fear for them, laugh with them, cry for them. Only then will we care who they are. When I was a kid growing up with all the family crammed into our sitting room to watch the movie on TV, it was the ones that made us all cry (though with hidden tears) that stick in the memory. Perhaps I want to achieve that level of emotion. I want my characters to break audiences hearts.
Unique traits: Character brings you to story. Story reveals character.
