You probably heard about or maybe you even saw some of the production sets when HBO was filming "Big Little Lies" the mini-series starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Shane Woodley. Much of the series highlights the Monterey area as they filmed most of the series in Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel, and many of our locals appeared as extras, while local vendors serviced the production teams.

HBO will be airing the first episode on Sunday, February 19th and the Monterey County Film Commission will be celebrating by holding a screening party and mixer with many of the locals that participated in the production. There will be a number of local film professionals as well as members of the Film Commission who can help you to build your network in the local film community. We'd love to see you there. Hey, it's only $5 bucks to add a little fun to your Sunday night. What do you have to lose?

I would love to do voiceovers but where to start!? Is it possible to get work with only my actual voice? What is the best way to persuade a business or director to take a chance on a newbie who is willing to volunteer for the experience? How/where can a person record and submit without owning the equipment? Yeah, I'm clueless at the moment and eager to learn because it would be fun...and I could add an actual skill to my resume! Thanks for your advice and any additional information you'd care to share :~D
