My name is Aaron Wesley Hansen, but you may call me Aaron. I am a country bumpkin from Salt Spring Island, self-proclaimed weed capital of the world, but don't worry, I won't bring any weed into the work place, unless you're into weed in which case, I'm sorry but I won't be bringing any weed into the work place. I wish I could say that I have a long history of writing, but in reality my professional career started as a computer technician, maintaining cash registers for grocery stores, corner stores, and liquor stores for the lower half of Vancouver Island. It was a good job too, paid well, good benefits, and consisted of 5 hours driving to 3 hours of actual work. Sadly, I was caught speeding one too many times and had my license suspended, and without a car to drive to all my locations I ended up losing my job as well. I mention this because if I hadn't lost my license, then there is a very strong possibility that I would still be wasting away at that job and you wouldn't be reading this right now
You see, I have always had a fascination with film, always wanted to be a part of the community, but it always felt like one of those things that other people did so I never thought to pursue a career in it. But despite that I found myself writing in my off time, usually inspired by some weird dream I just had. After losing my job I had finally found the time to ask myself what I wanted to do with my life, so I decided “Fuck it, I'm going to film school!” Shortly after, I enrolled myself into Vancouver Film School where I met many great people that helped me improve my writing to what I am today. Fortunately, my family are fans of cinema as well so I have a decent list of movies I can honestly say influence much of what I write. My parents were obsessed with the classics, stretching from the 40s to the 60s. Because of that, Dr. Strangelove, His Girl Friday, and The Pink Panther Series list as some of my most influential favourites. Of course, there are more recent films that have shaped my writing as well, such as The Big Lebowski, Hot Fuzz, and Snatch. When you meet me in person you'll find that I'm a very quiet, down-to-earth kind of guy, and I blame that on my 6 years of customer service, keeping most of my... disagreements... to myself. Which is exactly why I love writing so much, it allows me to finally break out of that shell, and if I can get paid to do it then that's the real bonus.
Thank you for sticking around this long, if you enjoyed me spilling my guts out for you then please contact me and we'll talk over coffee, I'm confident that you'll prefer my company in person over this block of text.
