About Jon

As one of the top dialect coaches in America I've been fortunate to work with many of the finest actors and directors in the world. My credits - over 100 movies, TV shows and theatrical productions - include coaching Oscar winning actors and Oscar winning films.

I specialize both in accents and accent reduction - helping foreign actors to sound American or American actors with regional accents to sound more neutral.

I have trained or coached such actors as the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Russell Crowe, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sharon Stone, Emilia Clarke (Mother of Dragons), Sofia Vergara, Debbie Reynolds, Gael Garcia Bernal, Zoe Saldana, Sophia Loren, John Turturro, Liam Neeson, Geena Davis, Famke Janssen, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Griffith, Wes Bentley, Julie Delpy, Matt Dillon, Rodrigo Santoro, Eugenio Derbez, Giancarlo Giannini and often with Harvey Keitel on many of his greatest films, including Bugsy, The Bad Lieutenant, Reservoir Dogs, Thelma and Louise and The Piano. I have coached films made by Peter Jackson, Francis Ford Coppola, Jane Campion, Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro, Barry Levinson, Quentin Tarantino, Roland Joffé, Stephen Frears, Robert Rodriguez, Alan Rudolph, Andrew Davis, Blake Edwards, Abel Ferrara and Richard Donner, to name a few.

I taught speech, accents, and acting Shakespeare at Circle in the Square Theater School, NYU Tisch School of the Arts and S.U.N.Y. Purchase for 10 years collectively. I am also the resident voice, speech, and accent teacher at the Actors Studio in Los Angeles. And I have taught acting and speech classes and workshops all over the world.

I have lived in Paris, Rome and Argentina, and speak fluent French and Italian and passable Spanish.

  • To vlemma tou Odyssea

    To vlemma tou Odyssea (1995)
Film (Drama and War) Miscellaneous Crew A, a Greek filmmaker living in exile in the United States, returns to his native Ptolemas to attend a special screening of one of his extremely controversial films. But A's real interest lies elsewhere--the mythical reels of the very first film shot by the Manakia brothers, who, at the dawn of the age of cinema, tirelessly criss-crossed the Balkans and, without regard for national and ethnic strife, recorded the region's history and customs. Did these primitive, never-developed images really exist? If so, where are they? - "Why A? It's an alphabetical choice. Every filmmaker remembers the first time he looked through the viewfinder of a camera. It is a moment that is not so much the discovery of cinema--but the discovery of the world. But there comes a moment when the filmmaker begins to doubt his own capacity to see things, when he no longer knows if his gaze is right and innocent." --Theo Angelopoulos Written by Frank Wallner <wallnerf@informatik.tu-muenchen.de>
