About Michael

Michael Anthony Perez is of Mexican descent and was born and raised in East Los Angeles, to Lorenza (Martinez) and George A. Perez tow truck driver and auto dismantler the oldest of three brothers and one sister. He was raised in a part of the city known as Maravilla, its home to the city’s largest and oldest Mexican community and street gangs.

He became interested in acting when a friend incouraged him to sign up for extra work on Film and TV to make an income while between jobs. He was given roles to play of characters that he was familiar with through his own community, due to the similarities it gave him a strange comfort.

He discovered a passion and talent for acting, and the industry as a whole. Since entering into the industry he’s written a TV pilot, consulted and script supervised on films and has been in a number of TV shows and movies working alongside such stars as Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejifor and interacting with directors like John Singleton and Billy Ray.

Growing up around gang lifestyle, Mexican drug traffickers and criminals gave Michael a special set of skills, which he put to use while working in the film industry. Michael brings a level of gritty realism to the roles he’s been cast and the screen plays he creates.

Michael enjoys spending time with his children and restoring old cars which feeds his lowrider soul. He continues to work on and strengthen his craft, looking to be an example to many that have come from communities like his own and that are living in his past footsteps, that our surroundings dont define us they strengthen us and that change is possible.
