I am a writer. Not only do I consider myself to be a writer, but I also consider writing to be one of the most effective ways to elicit change and to provoke thought among the masses. As an English professor I never expected or intended to write for a newspaper. When I earned my MFA in Creative Writing, my dream was to write the next great American novel, but that didn’t happen. So I began teaching. In 2007, one of my students, John Weldon was brutally murdered. After speaking at his funeral, I wrote what I thought would be a simple column expressing my anger and dismay.

The initial column received so much feedback from the community, that I was asked to write a weekly column, and for the next 6.5 years, I wrote my opinion about a myriad of topics, to the joy of some and to the irritation of others. Over the years, my columns have been mentioned or featured in the New York Times, the Dallas Morning News, FOXNews, More magazine, , Georgia Digest, the Knoxville News Sentinel, News Center and many other online and print publications. I have also spoken at many social, civic, and educational organizations; however, the most important thing writing the column produced was the establishment of the John Weldon Memorial Scholarship in honor of my slain student.

I mentioned my MFA earlier, but I never really put it to good use, until now. After moving to Atlanta, I became involved in the film community and decided to branch out on my own, and began writing my web series, Ms. PMS. The name may be off putting, but Ms. PMS is not what her name implies.

My goal with this page is to connect with writers, producers, artist, and yes, investors, who also understand the importance of great writing, and who would like to work together to create innovative and creative programming that not only entertains, but also empowers and enlightens.
