About Samantha

Samantha's mother was gifted a brownie camera as a young adult and began documenting every waking moment of life, Samantha was soon to follow. Samantha spent years as a photo assistant and digital tech to some of the top image-makers in the business, all while shooting on her own. Since then, she's incorporated more motion/video to her image-making, going out not only as a photographer but also as a Camera Operator/DP. She has shot all over the world and has created the online journal and travel show . In 2015 she began training to shoot underwater and received her PADI divemaster certificate in 2018. She's based out of New York City, though she has lived and worked in Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, Philadelphia, and spent a few months living and shooting in Hawai’i, and Indonesia. Unique traits: 31 years as a photographer; Beta Cam operator in Highschool, got back into video/motion in the early 2000s. Having been a photographer and 1st photo assistant for so long, lighting is 2nd nature. I've worked various roles in the business and have well-rounded knowledge to help out in several roles. I was a pianist in college. therefore have an excellent ear for music I just don't play anymore. am a PADI divemaster though prefer to dive in water and easier conditions. I trained Capiera for 6 or 7 years worked as a 1st photo assistant for Y E A R S which often means carrying a ton of heavy gear, especially in those days when the gear was much heavier, less compact that in today's times :) this has helped me tremendously when it comes to carry/managing larger camera rigs. I do not have any issues with this. I studied German for 5 years and was almost fluent. I lost much of it but when around it can pick it up rather quickly. I also understand some basics of other languages. I do NOT speak them nor did I study them I was just around them a bunch so when in these areas I can et around with some basics and google translate pretty well (Indonesian and Brasilian Portuguese). I also was a fire (Danceing) performer for a few years.
