About Ashley

Ashley Marie is a Screenwriter and a Producer. She is completing her last year of graduate school at Loyola Marymount University to earn her Master of Fine Art in Writing and Producing for Television; and is scheduled to graduate in May 2018.

Ashley Marie is an award-winning comedy screenwriter. Winning Best Original Comedy Pilot in 2015 at Austin Revolution Film Festival for her original comedy "Leave it to Cleaver." This script was also a second rounder at Austin Film Festival 2014. In 2016 Ashley's Modern Family spec "#No Filter" took home Best Spec Script at Austin Revolution Film Festival.

Ashley crafts stories that value diverse characters in age, race, and sexuality/gender. She also strongly values writing complex and compelling female characters. Her unique characters motivate stories in even the most boring of settings. Ashley's BA in Philosophy has helped her craft characters who grapple (and struggle) with deepest questions such as "Why does society work this way?" and "What is the best moral system for a community?" Questions like these touch upon philosophical writing from Nietzsche and Kant creating entertainment that also stimulates the mind.

Ashley produced over five graduate films (two were MFA thesis projects). These projects vary in tone. Because each project was hand picked because it represented a theme Ashley connected with. "Yin Chung" is a Mandarin spoken short about elderly woman whose husband suffers from sexual mania in the Alzheimer's facility. "Because Frankie" tells the tragic story a grieving family must deal with the fallout of their eldest daughter gaining notoriety as a school shooter who took her own life.

Ashley has experience in supervising, coordinating, and overseeing production of sets up to size of 50 people. She enjoys working on set. She has learned that "movie magic” is created with teamwork, dedication, a positive/supportive attitude, and strong communication.
