Marlene Zechman is the creative director for "Reel Independent Women", which hosts the annual "Female Filmmakers Showcase" in Baltimore, MD. Marlene founded Zany Zone Productions after retiring.
"I was always a daydreamer, which usually got me yelled at in school. I started writing poems and songs after taking a creative writing course in college. When I was hired as a paid extra in a Hollywood movie that was being filmed locally, I was hooked. After that, I got into everything I could - features, TV shows, PSA's, local indies, I just loved being on set. I decided to combine my passion for writing and acting by scripting my own roles, such as Vampire Granny (on YouTube), Marie Curall, the half-mad scientist, and Millie Cheesey, the caustic stewardess in "Fear of Flying Flight School (also on YouTube). It wasn't a far stretch to envision producing them myself, and that's how Zany Zone Productions, comedy shorts for the adult funny bone, was born."
