Robin Schmidt is a multi award-winning writer/director from the UK. His early years were geared around classical music, singing in choirs and playing piano and violin. But after reading english at Oxford he moved into moving image work. Rather than go the runner route he started his own production company, Chrome Productions shooting extreme sports films for the world’s biggest action sports brands before moving into music videos, commercials and factual entertainment television.
He left Chrome in 2010 and that year won the Bahamas 14 Islands Challenge, earning a rather nice cheque in the process. He began to develop drama projects with fellow Chrome founder Gez Medinger as directing duo SCHMIDT&MEDINGER and the pair shot a number of short films before producing their first feature, Afterdeath in 2014. The film was released October 2015 through Icon Distribution. They are currently developing the follow-up to Afterdeath and Robin has a project in development with Creative England through the BFI Net.Work due for release late 2015. That film, Vanishing Trick, has already been selected for the prestigious Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
Robin is also an accomplished editor and is particularly strong directing VFX heavy material. He directs comedy and television work under the alias SuperMassive. His new show The Indestructibles will start airing on DAVE from November 8th 2015.
