Corinne Friesen (Lovarra)'s Reel

Wicked Game cover by Lovarra

I've aimed to revive that sultry, haunting quality, the angst of Chris Isaak’s steamy classic; to capture that desperation of being drawn toward the very thing you know will be your ruin.

Dream Sweet Dreams

My (new) Christmas lullaby, not just for little people, not just for Christmas. Hoping to give you a soothing calm, with gentle sweetness to send today on its way.

Cocktail Umbrellas in the Rain

My song to energize climate action rallies. ('Til the air we breathe in clean, we've gotta keep goin'!") It’s part of my up coming climate action EP “Power of One”.

The Bill Murray Song

Bill Murray likes to casually join in whatever ordinary people are doing. Maybe you’ll tug on your bartender’s sleeve and he turns around and it’s Bill Murray. Or you get your wedding photos taken outside and, days later, you get them back and notice Bill Murray is standing there among your wedding guests. So, everything in this song is either from a Bill Murray “sighting” or refers to one of his movies. Then there’s the chorus, “It just doesn’t matter!” He says that in his...

"Border Song" - an LGBQT++ cover by Lovarra (Corinne)

For Pride weekend karaoke, I changed some of the words toward the end of Elton John's “Border Song” to focus its powerful message to be about the LGBQT++ community. I aimed for the meaning from the original to carry over. I hope you find it does.

Brilliant Idiot: Air Lock Blog - How to Speak Australian Like a Duck

Learning Australian is, apparently, easy? But first I had learn to speak ‘Duck’. We’re blogging our production of the Science Fiction radio comedy, Air Lock. Actually, we’re podcasting anything that just rolls through our brains. Air Lock’s Michael Steel and Laura Carlsen once again to try to teach me to speak with an Australian accent. I’m better at duck. (I even won the Duck Auditions for the role of the duck in Air Lock…. And that’s another blog post.) But apparently that’s not good enough.

Making of Air Lock: Any Scene Worth Doing is Worth Shatnering

Having a bit of fun during the production of Air Lock. This clip is from the first draft of the show. Not sure if we should let it ride or put that poor pilot quickly out of his misery. And the Shatner Award goes to: Rick, Michael, Grayson, Corinne and Wyatt for their jointly inspired interminable audition for the death of the shuttle pilot.... (Trinity in Matrix never had it so good.)

Brilliant Idiot - "Air Lock" Blog

Mike asks me, "What's it like directing this show?" Well, if you MUST know.... This bloggy clip comes from us gearing up on the radio comedy "Air Lock".

Air Lock - Sneak Preview: The Cannibal's Hot Tub (A Hot Bath at…

A clip from the first draft of Air Lock, before fine tuning and post-production. The Cannibal's Hot Tub: Careful what you wish for. Alexandra might just get the hot bath she's been dreaming of if the cannibals have anything to do with it. If she's lucky, she'll merely discover that she's not exactly as fluent in Hotei as she thinks she is. (What am I saying? She's a natural. Right?)
