Date Started: June 9, 2014 The basic idea underlying global warming theory and research is that the combustion of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal ) adds greenhouse gas to the atmosphere and therefore increases the heat retaining capacity of the atmosphere. The increased energy in the atmosphere manifests as both increased average temperature and more high-energy and extreme weather events. The weaknesses in this theory are obvious to anyone with a modest grasp on the physics of greenhouse gasses. It is therefore ludicrous and initially shocking that it is being relied on for formation of U.S. and world law and public policy, as well as other enforceable decision making, e.q. business management. Earth would not have a biosphere without CO2 . 7000 ppm during Cambrian period, 500 million years ago. Industrial age increased the level from about 280 ppm to a peak of 400 ppm. 30-40% of total is dissolved in water (e.g. oceans). Over the past 400,000 years the lowest level was 180 ppm during the deep glaciation of the Holocene period, or last ice age, which began about 11,700 years ago. Because of the ocean's great capacity to store and release heat, maritime climates are more moderate and have less extreme seasonal variations than inland climates.” Mass of the oceans: 1.37 x 1021 Kg Source: Useful Quantities in Climate Research (Google it) Mass of the atmosphere: 5.27 X 1018 Kg Source: Physics of the Earth and Planets Whatever heat the atmosphere absorbs, the oceans also absorb. Water is in fact a more potent green house molecule than carbon dioxide. The reason these two molecules store more heat than other air molecules is due to their shape, which stores more internal vibration in the bonds than other molecular shapes can. The mass of a green house gas compound, or number of molecules present, is directly proportional to its heat storing capacity, therefore. Water weighs 18 atomic units per molecule, carbon dioxide 44. Each molecule of water stores more heat per molecule than does carbon dioxide. To simplify, assume that they are the same in this respect. If so, then the same mass of water stores 44/18 times more heat than carbon dioxide, or about 2.35 times as much. The total number of carbon dioxide molecules added to the atmosphere is directly proportional to the heat retaining capacity that this greenhouse molecule contributes. This is roughly 0.04%-0.028% = 0.012% of the mass of the atmosphere, or about 6.324 x 1014 Kg. For approximation purposes, erring in favor of the global warming theorists, I'll count the water in the oceans only to compare to this mass. Excluding atmospheric water should produce only a minor inaccuracy. The ratio by mass of the green house compound added to that of water is: 6.324 x 1014 Kg / 1.37 x 1021 Kg which is 4.62 x 10-7. By mass, water absorbs at least 2.35 times as much heat as carbon dioxide, so the heat absorption ratio is 4.62 x 10-7 / 2.35 = 1.97 x 10-7. This is about 2 ten millionths, meaning that the heat storing capacity of the green house compounds on the surface of the earth has increased by less than 2 ten millionths due to man made carbon dioxide (combustion of fossil fuels). Assuming that this increase in heat retaining capacity is proportional to increase in temperature, and using the Kelvin scale which starts at absolute zero, it is physically impossible for this amount of heat retaining capacity to explain even one degree increase in the temperature, the average currently being about 400°K. There are reputable scientific reports of increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, however. Since we are between ice ages, having exited the previous between 5000 and 8000 years ago, depending on where you are located on planet earth, global warming is not hard to explain as a totally natural phenomenon. Ice ages occur about every 100,000 to 120,000 years, so applying common sense leads us to the necessary conclusion that we are still warming up, rather than cooling off in a lead up to the next one. There is no reason to believe that the cooling or warming process is sudden, and there is evidence and scientific theoretical work attempting to explain the accepted fact of earth's ice age cycles. There are many reasons increasing CO2 levels are actually good for life on earth, also. Here are a few: 1. CO2 is the single source of carbon on planet Earth for the manufacture of organic compounds by plants via photosynthesis. One benefit of additional CO2 is that plants grow 30-35% faster generally if the pre-industrial level of CO2 is doubled. Plants are the base of the food chain in earth's biosphere, so increased CO2 means more food for everything alive, which includes people. The level of CO2 has increased already from 280 ppm to 400 ppm which is a 43% increase. We're on our way to feeding the world (let them know its Christmas time)! 2. H2O is also a green house gas; more potent than CO2. H2O is produced in roughly equal quantities with CO2 by the combustion of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are a mixture of various length hydro-carbon chains, meaning they are made of carbon and hydrogen in roughly the same proportions: about two hydrogens per carbon. When these react with oxygen, the carbons combine with the oxygens to form CO2, and the hydrogens combine with the oxygen to form H2O. Since there are about two hydrogens per carbon in the hydrocarbon fuel, these two products are produced in roughly equal quantities. Yes this means that your car's exhaust is primarily just water and carbon dioxide. This means that we're adding another green house gas to the atmosphere when we burn fossil fuels, namely water, which is a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Why is this not included in the global warming theory and research and included in their reports to the public, or at least the Environmental Protection Agency? The EPA has classified CO2 as a pollutant when it is produced by the combustion of fossil fuels. Why not water also? 3. On a geological time scale, the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have always been higher than in the present age, and the earth's biosphere has benefited tremendously from this. 500 million years ago, during the Cambrian period, there was 25 times the CO2 in the atmosphere compared to pre-industrial levels. This was the period which saw the initial population of the earth's lands with animal species. So many evolved in such a short period that the period is called the Cambrian Explosion. This is primarily because of the vastly increased plant growth rate producing vastly greater quantities of food. Why were the dinosaurs so huge and present day lizards so small, you ask? The king in this category, the brontosaurus, was a vegetarian. The current levels of CO2 simply won't support anything that size anymore. Even insects were huge then. Google it. Whatever change will happen to the climate due to the level of CO2 going up, life will benefit generally. Plan your real estate purchases accordingly. 4. Roughly 10,000 years ago the earth was in one of its periodic ice ages. These occur in recent geologic history due to the depleted levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. The warming that climate researchers are observing is most likely the result of this entirely natural phenomenon. So why are no species are killed off entirely by the glaciation during the ice ages? Do they simply move toward the equator? If so, then they compete for food and space and their populations dwindle significantly, but rebuild when it warms up again. Since this happened repeatedly to humans as we evolved, it must have had a significant effect on our social development, since group organization is required for survival when there is a greater general environmental threat. Language development is most likely heavily influenced by the periodic glaciation of planet earth, for instance. This deserves study. One clear benefit of raising the greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere, in addition to the increase in food supplies, is that it could prevent future ice ages. 5. Summarizing my previous mathematical analysis, the oceans are water and are therefore another essential component of the heat retention capacity of the surface of the earth. The total mass of H2O plus the total mass of CO2 is the primary driver of heat energy levels in the atmosphere. The amount of CO2 added by the combustion of fossil fuels is miniscule compared to this mass. Previous to industry, volcanoes were the source of CO2, both initially and on an ongoing basis. The amount they produce has decreased steadily, however, as the earth ages and cools. Subtract the amount of CO2 that the plants use to manufacture all of the organic carbon compounds which are buried and become pert of the top soil and future fossil fuels from the atmosphere, and in 100 million years you have a dead planet. Therefore not only is the amount of CO2 produced by humans miniscule, it is necessary to sustain life on earth in the absence of volcanic production. 6. Using the Kelvin temperature scale, which starts at absolute zero, with degrees the same size as the Celsius scale which starts at the freezing point of water, the surface of the planet averages about 400°. Can an increase of 1° out of a scale of 450, zero being the absence of the molecular movement which is perceived as heat, be explained by the amount of CO2 and H2O that the burning of fossil fuels has added to the atmosphere? The answer is an unequivocal scientific NO. So why haven't the conservative pundits howling HOAX prosecuted the global warming crowd in public courts? The simple answer is that their religion prohibits them from using science in making of governmental policy, law, business decisions, etc. They routinely and vigorously defend their right to use their religion in such capacities against any scientific, rational, or empirical basis. Just my opinion, but I believe the abortion issue has the same root. In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that it is difficult to determine when human life begins, stating, “We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer.” It is established scientific fact that an egg is alive, a sperm is alive, and a fertilized egg is alive. This is why it grows in the usual life like manner of dividing and differentiating into the various tissues of the embryo, the fetus, and the baby. This is not difficult to grasp. It is common knowledge. Scientifically, the embryo is alive at conception. Stating otherwise is readopting the medieval doctrine of spontaneous generation. According to the U.S. Supreme Court, the thing grows and grows and then suddenly at some point the miracle of life happens. From the point of view of Christianity, this is quite innovative, since Genesis states that life was created by God during the first six days and at no time after that. Roe v. Wade excludes science, its affirmation of the mystical beginnings of individual human lives being the cause of the 60 million abortions since. Global warming theory pretends to be science, but Roe v Wade creates legal precedent allowing science not be used in life or death judicial decision making. There is therefore no legal assurance that globel warming theory actually is based on science. You need to do the scientific work yourself to know. This capability is conveniently out of reach of the vast majority of U.S. Voters. Therefore, a documentary is required to counter the potent propaganda produced by the political scientists promulgating global warming theory as fact.
