About John

John Orland is a veteran Hollywood executive and filmmaker. He has held management positions at Universal Studios, Neufeld-Davis Productions, BNB Productions, Crossroads Productions, Afterglow Media, Directions Unlimited, Showcase Entertainment, Brilliant Films. He has worked with Steven Spielberg, David L. Wolper, Ray Stark, Frank Price, David Koepp, David Cunningham, Mace Neufeld, Barney Rosenzweig, Tony Bill, Phillip Kauffman, Art Linkletter, IBM, and Disney/Mattel Toys, in various production capacities.

John has extensive experience as a producer, line-producer, screen writer, director, cameraman, film editor, and post production supervisor with Paramount Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros., David L. Wolper Productions, Goldcrest Films International, MGM, United Artists, Viacom, RCA/Columbia, Beijing Film Studio (China), Romoji Film City (India), Sony Video Software, Disney Channel, Family Channel, HBO/Cinemax, Yahoo, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, BBC (London).

In his early years, he headed filmed news operations for KHJ-TV (Channel 9) in Los Angeles. He was also Stage Manager at the Latin Casino Theater Restaurant in Cherry Hill, N.J., and the Camden County Music Fair in Haddonfield, N.J.

He has worked on over 200 feature films, trailers, TV movies, TV pilots, TV commercials, and supervised the completion of the Emmy-nominated mini-series “East of Eden” for ABC-TV, and more than 60 feature films, among them “Krush Groove” for Warner Bros., “Apartment Zero”, “The Fun House” for Universal, “To End All Wars” with Keiffer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle, for Goldcrest Films, “Camille” with James Franco and Sienna Miller, for A-Mark Entertainment. Most recently he was Post Production Producer of “Atlas Shrugged” Parts 1 & 2.

John has sold original screenplays to Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, Raystar Productions, and the ABC Television Network.

John has taught pre-production, production and post-production at UCLA, screenwriting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, and has been a lecturer at UCSB, the American Film Institute, University of Texas, and the Film Bureau, Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, in the Peoples Republic of China. He was an advisor to the National Endowment of the Humanities in Washington, D.C.

John studied Cinema at USC, and Stage Craft at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

John is a member of the Editors Guild, Writers Guild of America, west, Society of Camera Operators, 3-D Film Society, Hollywood Post Alliance, Los Angeles Press Club and Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneer Foundation.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of TV Santa Barbara, a Public Access Television Station and 501 (C) 3 organization.
