Good Morning All, Thank you for allowing me the honor of introducing myself. I began my Writing career as Co-author of "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE" with Ellie Janssen, my friend's first wife. I am certain Members of Stage 32 involved in the Television and Film industry will remember DAVID JANSSEN. In a career that spanned 34 years; he appeared and/or starred in 44 Feature Films, 20 Made-for-Television Movies, and as Star of Four Television Series, starting with "RICHARD DIAMOND-Private Detective" (CBS/NBC. 1957-1960), Best known as "Dr. Richard Kimble" in the ground-breaking, record-setting, award winning Q-M Productions "THE FUGITIVE" (ABC. 1963-1967), "O'HARA-U.S. Treasury" (CBS, 1971) and "HARRY O." (ABC, 1974-1976). Over the years since the puiblication of Ellie Janssen's memoir, many fans and a few close friends of David Janssen urged me to write about our friendship, which lasted from 1965 to his sudden death in February of 1980. I am an American living in Mexico (San Miguel de Allende), author of 'Older Man Younger Man,' 'God On Your Own,' 'The Way of the Traveler,' and other books. I founded the film school at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design in 1987 with the help of actress Greer Garson, who gave us $3.3 million to build an academic facility attached to two rent-out sound stages -- my students went to classes on one side of the building and worked on films at the studios (in the early days: City Slickers, Wyatt Earp - more recently 'Longmire,' 'Manhattan,' etc.). I've returned to my first love, writing screenplays. The first, just finished, is 'The Mayor Falls in Love' -- the true story of J.W. Lown, the closeted mayor of ultra-conservative San Angelo, TX, who was re-elected to a 4th term with 90% of the vote, but did not show up for his swearing-in...he fled in the night to Mexico with his lover, an 'undocumented' 20-year-old male student. It's an upbeat romance with twists around some serious 'today' issues, especially immigration law , same-sex marriage, and gays in politics. I'm new to Stage 32 -- looking for friends, contacts, connections, looking mostly to find agents/producers/anyone else in the business who will read the screenplay. In October of 1965 I had the honor of meeting Mr. DAVID JANSSEN and his lovely wife Ellie. Over the next fifteen years, David and I became good friends and I enjoyed hundreds of conversations with him. David Janssen suffered a massive heart attack and passed away on February 13, 1980. In late October of 1987, I had a chance encounter with Ellie Janssen at the world famous JOCKEY CLUB in Miami, Florida. Ellie had relocated to Miami from Las Vegas and was applying for membership in the Jockey Club, of which I was then serving on the Board of Governors. We began a friendship and I asked why she had not written a book about her marriage, her life with David. At that time I was employed as the Chief Investigator for a prominent Miami law firm which specialized in criminal defense. After a couple of false starts with "Ghost Writers", I read what they had written and suggested to Ellie that she and I could write her book together. Thus began a four years collaboration and in December of 1994, "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE" was published in hardcover by Lifetime Books, Inc., with Paperback editions following in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Based upon the success of this book, and my early retirement from the law firm, I chose to embark on the challenging career of being a Writer. However, I promised myself I would never co-author another book with anyone, especially the ex-wife of a celebrity. I chose to write about something I know well; Police procedurals, detective novels and court room drama based on actual cases. "THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE", my debut novel introducing the "Mike Walsh Detective Novels" is based on the brutal murder of a close friend and one time mentor of mine, Detective Sergeant Jack R. Ohrberg of the Robbery & Homicide Unit of the Indianapolis Police Department. The second novel in the "Mike Walsh Detective Novels" series is "THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE", based on a murder case I worked on for the law firm. I was honored and privileged to have been a good friend of the iconic American Actor, the late DAVID JANSSEN. In December of 1994, "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE" was published. I co-authored this Memoir with ELLIE JANSSEN, Dave's first wife. Following the Hardcover release, Paperback Editions were published in 1995, 1996 & 1997. Through the subsequent years, many of Dave's friends and fans have encouraged and inspired me to write my Memoir of the hundreds of conversations between Dave and me.
