I wouldnt ask you to. Maybe you should ask christopher nolan what he thinks about adr...no to the boom because i dont want to capture it by accident. So yeah, keep thinking your way. Its the reason I wont be hamstrung by a budget while creating new and trailblazing films while youre stuck fantasizing about the ones you could make. Stay off my projects. That goes for forever. So back to the topic at hand. Unforeseen problems with this scenario? I figure syncing the sound, dropping unusable sound while lowering the volume of anything but critical tracks would yield a good mix and feel of the tone in the house. It would also give me multiple tries to get good audio so ADR is minimal if needed at all. I will be trying it on set and working it on the fly so things that i can do to streamline it all before i have to learn the hard way?

Alex, I have no idea about your set or number of characters on set and in what their proximity is. Two lavs work well in a two shot/ots mix and I have used three at once (not happy about it.) I wouldn’t think about more – the mixing and balance will drive you nuts. I’ve tucked cardioids in the flower pots and on booms if I have a set full of actors, shotguns for most set-ups. Can’t help you on location where you are.

Alexander, you say found footage documentary (like Paranormal Activity or Blair Witch?). What type of footage are you going to find? 8mm, 16mm film, VHS tape and digital all have different sound qualities about them that should remain true to the format that you “find”, otherwise you risk losing the true documentary quality I think you’re seeking. I don’t think I’d go top quality audio on an “old” 8mm film.

Some days, I just write. But others, I'll put on some music and still just go. Depending on where I am if music is included.

I can't usually force it. Some days I'll write for hours on end and sometimes I can't look at the keyboard. Honestly though, I've found that the way I work best is to just relax. Watch tv for an hour or a day. Just do other stuff and then I'll get struck again, my subconscious will spew stuff forth and it's all because I've wound down and emptied my mind of the stresses and inhibitors.

Go shopping or any social outing and absorb everything around you using a writers mind. Life itself is just like one big long movie for me anyway and I know I'm not the only writer and/or media person that has said that. I may be the biggest user of people in the history of users but most of it is for good, not the way one would think of someone being a user and done in a way unknowing and not harmful to others. In a way I guess you could say it is just observation but not any more observant or deviant than someone going to the movies. One problem I honestly have at times is not using any situation for future creation and just accepting a situation for what it is. Life is full of parallel's and that can be both a blessing and a curse to be in tune with that. As far as process social outing or just watching and listening to current media, a day or two of processing occasionally writing some brainstorming notes then I develop a title or centralized idea. I hardly ever work on fresh idea's because if I come back in a week or two and it isn't still interesting I just discard or file the idea away. I go back and forth and rehash idea's all the time so there is always some project I can work on. I probably have a hundred decent idea's and probably 10% or so of those at some efforted point of development in writing. Occasionally I polish some finished bodies of work as well. If I didn't have an upcoming hip surgery making me somewhat wishy washy I would probably explode out of media limbo. It sucks when an ailment causes reluctance.
