Kevin Huckabee has always been a lover of "all things movies". He spent way too much time in front of a television as a kid wearing out VHS copies of movies like Batman, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, The Land Before Time, Robocop, Hook, and Terminator 2 Judgement Day. He began cutting video of his baseball team that his dad shot at the age of 10. Soon after, Kevin compiled a 2 hour junior high video in 2001. Following he wrote and directed his first film "Anonymity" in 2003, which he submitted to Worldfest Filmfest in Houston, Tx. In between most of his time was spent shooting and editing fun videos with friends, but not long after Kevin begin to shoot professionally; wedding, music, and event videography. He fell in love with editing and would get lost in it for hours.
From 2005 through 2009 Kevin attended The University of North Texas where he technical directed the live news and produced "Story", a student emmy nominated television production. However, during that period of time his best hours were spent interning at The Studios at Las Colinas during the production of "Prison Break" where he gained hands on production experience with stage, lighting, and grip equipment. Studio chief Justin Muller would help Kevin from time to time by allowing him to use studio camera and lighting equipment and facilities to shoot low budget short films and music videos to build his reel.
After a year of preparation, Kevin moved to Hollywood, CA in October of 2009 to attend the Film Program at Musicians Institute. During his 6 month certification program he was mentored by Cinematographer Alan Calzatti, served as Associate Editor for "Jonsi Go Quiet", Directed by Dean Dublois of "How To Train Your Dragon", editor for "Nora's Hair Salon 3", and 2nd Unit Camera for "Sex Tax". Upon graduation in March of 2010 Kevin received the Outstanding Film Student Award.
Kevin found himself job hopping for a while before accepting a position as 3D Editor and Director at Penthouse. He worked until April 2011 when he decided to resign and move back to Dallas to manage Midnight Empire. During the two and a half years Kevin managed the band he raised $6,000 to record the hard rock group's debut album, distribute, copyright, and license tracks on "Best Ink", book headlining and opening slots with notable bands Van Halen, Slash, Godsmack, Chevelle, Ratt, and Dead Sara, multiple television and festival appearances including Rock USA and SXSW, and Directed/DP'ed/Edited the band's debut music video for "Can't Get Enough".
Currently, Kevin Huckabee resides in Dallas, TX and is surging forward into the narrative film realm with two recent film race projects and a thirty page psychological horror short in pre production entitled "The Gate".
