SIX EIGHT TIME
By David W. Keffer

GENRE: Romance, Drama
LOGLINE:

After a vain piano prodigy gets hit by a car and loses the use of his hands, he must teach a destitute but dedicated student - who just may be the love of his life - how to reach her full potential in time for the prestigious Christmas Showcase or risk missing out on the chance to fulfill his dreams.

SYNOPSIS:

Miguel Carter is on top of the world - or at least on top-billing for a prominent music

school. His phenomenal piano skills have rightly earned his place, and he has come into his own as a

composer as well. But all of those dreams come to a screeching halt when Miguel becomes the victim of

a hit-and-run accident that leaves his hands mangled. This forces Miguel to take time off and heal, but

his emotional turmoil runs deep.

His program mentor, Professor Casteel, helps re-assign Miguel from music performance to music composition, with the hope that the young maestro will adapt and learn to excel despite his life- changing injuries. With the help of his student prodigy, Brenna Jackson, Miguel is able to remain in the school and shift his focus entirely to composition and conduction, but he has to learn how to trust Brenna's skills.

Meanwhile, Miguel's caretaker, his maternal grandmother, is losing her battle with diabetes and Miguel knows that the Christmas Showcase put on by the school will include the most prestigious symphony and orchestra recruiters, providing him one chance to change all of their fortune and fulfill his dream of being a professional musician. The more he works with Brenna, the more he realizes that the notes, and the sparks, flying between them are undeniable, and that her passion and commitment goes beyond just playing his pieces, but unto Miguel himself. Miguel must learn to set aside his pride, his anger, and his broken dreams in order to help the love of his life succeed in hers, before the biggest opportunity of their lives passes by them all.

The idea looks interesting, but I didn't have enough drama in the synopsis. And the question also arises, is a hero able to teach someone without the help of hands?

Maybe it's better to change the plot in such a way, after the accident, the hero composes music for himself, but then realizes that for success he needs to write a work that suits another performer, his student?
