Born and raised in Carson, California, Sumiko started acting as a teenager being cast in music videos and commercials, and performing in community theatre productions. Upon completing high school, she explored other interests and returned to acting years later. Sumiko has been featured in numerous independent short and feature films along with a handful of web series, commercials, and music videos. In 2011, she became involved with Pasadena-based Milestone Theatre Company as a cast member of The Mouse That Roared and continued on to also perform in Distracted as the memorable obsessive compulsive-Prozac popping-socially inept neighbor Vera. In addition to acting, she also performs spoken word poetry and hip hop throughout the Los Angeles area. Currently, she studies with Kirk Baltz and lives in LA with her son to pursue her artistic career.
