About Javier

Javier's background reflects a variety of experiences in acting, filmmaking, photography and public education. His introduction to the arts began at UCLA’s School of Theater Film and Television where he earned a BA in Theater Arts. As an actor, he was featured in performances at the Geffen Playhouse, The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and Nannette Brodie Dance Theater. Javier studied acting under Actors Studio moderator Salome Jens, Ellen Geer and Allan Miller; he was also an active supporter of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films from 1994-1997.

In 2005, Javier completed a Master of Arts in Teaching from Chapman University and began teaching English at the LA County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), where he served for six years before collaborating to create a highly successful Cinematic Arts program there. He served for another five years as a teacher of Digital Film Production, Screenwriting, Cinematography and Film Theory/History.

Working as a Director of Photography and Camera Operator, Javier has worked on projects in Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia and major U.S. cities. Since 2015, four of Javier's films have been represented in festivals throughout the country, including The Palm Springs International Short Film Festival, Dances With Films, The Pan-‐African Film Festival, and the LA Indie Film Fest, where one of his projects, Chasing Red, was awarded its coveted “Best of the Fest” for 2015.

In 2011, Javier completed a Certificate in Cinematography from UCLA’s Extension Program in Entertainment Studies and most recently acquired a CTE Credential in Art, Entertainment and Media.
