SYNOPSIS:
By the end of 1941, the Nazi plan for world domination seemed inevitable. The Allies needed to take drastic measures to fight back and that was Camp X. This dramatic one-hour action-thriller series is based on the historic secret spy training school set up in Canada by the British and the Americans before the U.S. was allowed to be involved in the war. It was so covert that even the Canadian government was unaware of its existence. Throughout each season’s 13 episodes, we follow two recruits, EDWARD (31) and IAN (33), who become competitors in everything including the attention of EMMA, (26) a fellow trainee. Because the life expectancy of a spy is very short, relationships are forbidden, but this rule is difficult for everyone to obey. The recruits are trained by a colourful group of instructors, including a kilt-wearing Scottish brigadier, a British master of disguises, an old man who can silently kill a person in less than 15 seconds, and the General who later formed the CIA. The female recruits are trained by VERA, a woman with a mysterious past, and a previous history with Ian. The pilot episode begins on December 6, 1941, the day Camp X officially opened for training. Edward struggles to suppress some personal demons as he is sneaked into Canada, while Ian must deal with a no-smoking order while under the cover of darkness. The recruits are immediately put to the test: to decipher a Japanese code intercepted by the Americans about an impending attack. By end of the pilot we learn Ian’s true identity and that there is a saboteur/double agent at Camp X who could hinder their ability to warn the U.S. of Japan’s intended target: Pearl Harbor.
