About Barry

Barry James Hickey lives in Colorado. He is originally from the south side of Chicago.

Before his film career, Barry was a touring lead singer in two bands and a stage actor in a dozen plays. He has over two thousand performances in front of live audiences to his credit.

After obtaining a B.A. at the University of Colorado, he spent 17 years in Hollywood as a an established actor starring in four feature films, while expanding his credentials as a screenwriter,, director and producer in independent films.

Barry also worked as a senior assistant for presidents and vice-presidents of production, casting and legal departments on feature films at Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures and CBS Television (MOW's and mini-series).

After he hung up his acting and singing spurs due to throat cancer, Barry started writing novels. (9 to date) All of them are available for screen adaptions and some are already spec screenplays.

Barry expects to finish his new novel Miss Queenie's Orphan Farm by the end of February and will start his next project, a limited series currently titled Grim Reapers.

Most recently he wrote a limited series TV pilot (Wolfe) based on his legal thriller The Water Lawyer which is being shopped by Voyage Media.

Barry is currently developing a Christmas musical play and film project (Uncle Egg Nog).based on his own original music and lyrics.
