THE GUY CODE
By Farai Andison

GENRE: Comedy, Drama
LOGLINE:

High School comedy flick. A guy breaks up with his girlfriend but is not happy with one of his best friends going out with her so friction of pranks and retaliations erupt between the two friends.

SYNOPSIS:

SHAUN, 17, and MIKE, 17, are best friends in high school but their relationship is compromised because of KELLEY, 17. The drama begins when Shaun realizes his best friend Mike is seeing Kelley behind his back after they have just broken up. Rather than confronting his best friend about the issue, this sparks a streak of pranks and retaliations by these two former friends and ex-girlfriend as they are willing to go as far as it takes to make their point.

Shaun and Mike’s wealthy friend DENNIS, 17, tries to intervene and be the voice of reason but his friends will not stop; partly fueled by Kelley’s bitter girlfriend LEAH, 17.

Thanks Farai, for posting your work. It takes guts! I got to P. 10, because I was engaged by your characters' dialogue, you seem to have captured the excruciating immaturity and insensitivity of that age group. Still I'm unsure of who's your protagonist. If it's Shawn, is he detestable, on purpose, or for comedic effect? I may take another look later... One word of caution, I heard that starting with a long monologue in a spec script, could be a RED FLAG to a producer. Do you consider your script finished and ready for festivals or producers? Just asking... Best of luck

Thanks for your comment. I do consider my work complete but obviously open to criticism
