About Tanis

Tanis Parenteau is an actor and producer. She is a member of the MĂ©tis Nation of Alberta (Cree) from Region VI (Peace River). On screen TV credits include recurring/guest star roles on Billions opposite Paul Giamatti, FBI: Most Wanted opposite Julian McMahon, Designated Survivor opposite Keifer Sutherland, House of Cards opposite Michael Kelly, and an upcoming guest star on Tribal (APTN).

Tanis is on the producing team at Red House Studios developing a drama series called Red House connecting the link between resource extraction and MMIW. The team also has a podcast called "Not Invisible: Native Womxn on the Frontlines", in which Tanis is the narrator. She is on the SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee, a member of AMPIA, and a 2021 Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices Fellow.

As a producer, her inaugural film A Big Black Space won Best Canadian Short at Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival, won the Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival, was nominated for Best Live Action Short at the 12th Red Nation Film Festival, and was broadcast briefly on ARTÉ in Germany, France and Belgium.

Next up, she is developing/starring in two Indigenous-led short films (a comedy and a drama), an Indigenous-led thriller/horror feature, and an Indigenous-led comedic web series. She holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from New School for Drama.
