Born in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in a little city called Monterey Park in the late 1970s to mid-1980s. I spent most of my days swimming, roller skating. Dancing at Disneyland. I caught the entertainment bug because of my eldest sister and cousin. One was an actress/stuntwoman/producer. The other cool Cuz manages latin jazz musicians. Weekends, I would spend tons of time at Sea World, Universal and Paramount Studios. Those were my go-to places. And movies were pure enjoyment! I love movies! My eldest sister used to take me to her auditions and premiere screenings. And yes, I met the Beach Boys in the early 1990s and danced to Mike Love singing me the song, “Help Me Rhonda.” At age 15, I danced with the Beach Boys and hula dancers while singing, “Kokomo.”
I loved every minute of it. Being on stage got me star struck. That was totally my defining moment! That and meeting Gilbert Godfried and jazz musician Dave Koz on The Arsenio Hall Show. I love my life!
I have over 20 years of experience in the music industry. I’m a Child Care Whisperer (Child education/Extended Day Teacher) and absolutely love children. They just love Miss Mendoza! Been living in Washington DC since 1987 and it has been my home. I love this city so much. Did I mention I’m a Little Person? I’m 4 feet 2 inches and a rocket!
I began my career as a music promoter, booking agent, and event promoter. I wanted to pursue voice acting, so I studied theater and broadcasting. That led me to my love for comedy improv. Film & television production. I have a passion for networking and public relations. Twenty-five years experience in publishing for Fil-Am Image Magazine. Pinoy Global Online News. I worked as an Event Coordinator and Assistant to Publisher Nonoy Mendoza for Twenty Outstanding Filipinos in America and Abroad. Awards event production is in my blood.
So happy and thrilled to be taking my experience with film festival productions. If it’s anything I’ve learned from this wonderful life journey, it’s saying “Yes And…” Special thanks to being the best actor who Improvises. (I’m a comedy Improvisor) Trained alumni from Washington Improv Theater. Studied at Upright Citizens Brigade New York, The Annoyance Theater, Magnet Theater, Chinese Menu Comedy, Laugh Index Comedy, and Happy Buddha Comedy.
If I never said, “yes” then I wouldn’t be where I am today.
True story!
Today I’m a freelance producer, First Assistant Director, voice actress, Unit Production Manager. Presenter, Event Coordinator, production assistant, camera operator. Sometimes Technical Director and Floor Manager. I love working with creative people and organization. Being a team player and a cheerleader. (Yes, I was a Pep Squad Cheerleader in high school. Ask me more later.) That’s me!
I love the final product. Seeing a film project ready for picture lock. The thrill of watching movies during film festivals. I love the entire process. Don’t you? It’s a lot to take in and I’m so grateful and thankful. I work with some incredible intelligent, funny and talented human beings.
Fun fact: Breakdancing and house/hip-hop dancing was my all-time 24/7 specialty. I’m all about supporting the film, music, comedy, art, dance and tv community to the fullest.
Let’s make it happen.
With Love,
Rhonda Mendoza
