About Barbara

I'm the author-composer of a high-stakes mystery series which, because it's based in the music business, offers a unique opportunity to showcase new, original music directly from the storyline. I've had interest from Sony Pix to create a 3-pt TV movie series, so I'm actively seeking the right producer(s). In the series, characters display the full range of human emotions--from wide-eyed excitement to spiteful back-biting and even murder, all while chasing their dreams. Liz is not only talented, she's inquisitive, witty, and has just enough of a stubborn streak to put her at odds with today's indie business when she tries to move forward with what she calls "straight talk and common sense." As for me, I've been a lifelong professional musician and writer, and after writing other books and newspaper articles, I finally fell upon the idea of marrying a story with a "soundtrack" of music--the same songs readers follow as they're being written, recorded and performed within the book. This gives a birds-eye view of the real indie music business, something no one but those involved ever get to see. And it also offers the opportunity for extra merchandising. I couldn't wait to write this series, and now I can't wait to get it into visual format--TV or web drama--where readers and music lovers can really get involved!

Unique traits: Along with protagonist Liz Hanlon's music, several other characters are musicians, and their music will also be released so this wide range of styles will reach many different musical tastes.
