Tonya Collier

Started acting in the 3rd grade back in the 70's, continued to do stage and theater until I was into my 20's. Along the way I did a stint of make-up artistry for a couple years. I had a couple of great opportunities to jump into the big leagues for film but family matters got in the way and I had to decline. Later I tried my hand at writing poetry where I've been published and have won a couple of awards. I've written a few scripts for Star Trek Next Generation and Voyager both times got some great traction, however, the shows didn't renew contracts so the work didn't go anywhere. I've taken several classes in school for creative writing and have been told repeatedly that I need to write. Over the last 15 years I've not done much writing (lots of starts) but decided this would be the year. I just finished a first draft to a script, now I'm looking to polish it off and perfect it and see where it takes me. I've been in love with the movie industry my entire life and for one reason or another I have been blocked from getting into it. I'm at a point in my career that I hate my job and I want the next 30 years to be filled with things I love. I can't quit the day job until I make enough money off the writing to turn in that all to famous two weeks notice. And that isn't going to happen with stuff collecting dust. I read an interview not to long ago that gave me an idea so I decided to run with it and well, here I am.
