Noticing how blurry the character mid-screen is I'd like to point out that - prior to special video effects - the actor had to make himself vibrate at a sync-rate slightly beyond the capabilities of the camera. It was a groundbreaking effect in its day but called for someone with an outstanding self-vibrational technique to help pull it off.
