About Femi

Femi Odugbemi is an experienced and accomplished filmmaker, screenwriter and Producer. A voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Femi has served as President of the Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN), co-founded the IREPRESENT International Documentary Film Festival Lagos, and is the Founding Academy Director (West Africa) of the Multichoice Talent Factory in Lagos Nigeria. He has served as a 4-time Head of Jury of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards(AMVCA),. 3-time Head Judge of the Uganda Film Festival, Juror of the Johannesburg Film Festival, Juror of the British Council 'Shakespeare lives’ project, 2-time Juror of the International Emmy Awards and many others.
Femi’s screen credits includes founding Producer of Nigeria’s longest running daily soap TINSEL, Executive-Producing the multi-award winning telenovela BATTLEGROUND (460 episodes), and the daily crime series BRETHEN (260 episodes), all screened across the continent on the DSTV channels. He has also produced and directed feature films including Maroko (2006), Gidi Blues (2016), 4th Estate (2017) and Code Wilo (2018). Femi has written and produced many critically acclaimed documentaries and issue-based films, the most recent being ‘UNMASKED: Leadership, Trust and the Covid-19 Pandemic in Nigeria’ (2021) premiered recently across the continent. He is a Member of the Board of the Committee for the Relevant Arts(CORA), a Distinguished Fellow of Theatre Arts (FTA), and a recipient of the prestigious lifetime achievement award of the Nigeria Film Corporation.
