A writer and actor focused on television, Sarah J. Eagen is a 2019 Semifinalist for the prestigious Humanitas NEW VOICES program. She is currently writing a feature film for Triple Jay Productions, an independent production company committed to hiring 200 women in the entertainment industry in the next year. She wrote on the new sci-fi audio drama anthology "The Veil" from Voxx Studios, writing 4 episodes with unique settings and characters in season 1. She co-wrote, produced, and acted in the short Soledad, starring Frankie Loyal of “Mayans, M.C.,” which screened on the Disney lot at the end of 2018 and was nominated for Best Writing and Best Short at the Top Indie Film Awards, winning Most Terrifying in 2019. She wrote and starred in the webseries "Magic for Muggles" and the short The Interview, based on her graduate school research in Genetics and Virology.
One of Eagen’s pilots was chosen as a top ten finalist in the Stage 32 TV Writing Contest in April of 2019, and one of her sitcom pilots was a quarterfinalist in Stage 32’s Comedy Writing Contest. Previously, her pilots have placed as semifinalists in the 2018 NYTVF Script Comp, as a finalist for the WAN Writers Workshop in 2019, and for the Women in Film/Blacklist Episodic lab in the fall of 2017. One of her parody scripts was performed live by the Parsec award-nominated podcast Once Upon a Wine in 2018. She is a monthly contributor to the online journal Ms in the Biz, where she writes about breaking into writing for TV with advice and resources for writers as well as interviewing prominent showrunners.
She just appeared on one of the last episodes of “The Big Bang Theory,” TV’s longest-running multi-cam show, in a sequence with Academy Award winner Regina King. Eagen was previously seen as helpful paralegal Carol in CBS's action comedy “Rush Hour”, in a Guest Star role on Lifetime's scripted series "My Crazy Ex,” and she had the pleasure of sharing the screen with funny lady Kristen Schaal in Austin Found, which premiered at Dances with Films in 2017.
Eagen is a member of the Junior Leadership Board of Hollywood Heart, a LA-based organization that provides arts education to underserved youth and those affected by HIV/AIDS. Last year she co-taught the weeklong writing workshop at Camp Hollywood Heart with Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Gatins, and she will be returning to teach with Gatins for the 2019 camp. She has been an HIV/AIDS educator and activist since she was 10, when she learned that her cousin Christopher was fighting a long and public battle with the disease as a result of an affected blood transfusion in his childhood. He spent several summers attending a camp like Hollywood Heart before he died at the age of 18.
She is also an avid traveler and rock climber, having climbed in Zion, Yosemite, Arches, Joshua Tree, and Devil’s Tower.
