Lisa Veldon Stokes was born and raised in East New York, Brooklyn. The eldest of ten children, Lisa has been a leader at home. The person that she has become is a compilation of all her experiences. In her works, she invites you into the urban life through her eyes, hence the name Eyes on You Entertainment of which she is Chief Executive Officer. Her passion for film developed after her best friend could not get a record deal. She made her a promise that she would learn how to do film and feature her on the music score. After earning her Masters in Sociology from Long Island University in 2002, she enrolled in a fourteen weeks digital filmmaking course at the Digital Film Academy January 2005. May 2005, Lisa took another step towards her dream when she wrote, produced and directed her first short film entitled “Twisted Love” and a documentary entitled “Living on the Low” both gives an inside look into the dynamics of bisexuality and how it relates to the familial institution. “House Money” an urban short film of friendship and betrayal. “Silent Cries of A Child”, which deals with child abuse and how a predator manipulates on vulnerability, (Winner of the 2007 New York International Film Festival). “Choices” which deals with teenage pregnancy and its consequence. “Letting Go” which deals with addiction. These projects are a great start to the plethora of tales, that shows passion and dedication of a person who at the age of 5, dreamed of becoming an Oscar winner. Watch out world, Lisa V. has her eyes on you.
