I think a unique and original character is the ultimate goal, but in that same regard... There are many characters that are not reinvented, but rather rehashed over and over again. And, it still works...

And, it still works to this day. My favorite genre is comedy or comedy horror. I don't watch the internet enough to know if there is a satisfactory amount of pieces on the internet. I think having something unique and original is harder to sell, but if done right, the sky is the limit! break a leg!
