So, does anybody still have that soul-shattering day job they're working at while they make their dream come true? Just wondering!

I am always looking for work - from comedy to drama, from film to commercials - I want to have consistent work, as I'm sure all of you do! I also write comedies, and have been producing them myself\ recently - just short sketches but it's amazing seeing an idea come to life. In my past, I grew up all over middle and east USA - from Texas to Philadelphia. Los Angeles is the first place I've lived more than 4 years. Beautiful city with endless opportunities. Now, if some of those opportunities could just come my way......! Haha. I look forward to connecting with all of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out! -Benny.
Hi Benny, welcome. I'm new here too and I agree about the sense of community.
Hi, I agree. The vibe is spreading!
Appreciate the post and the kind words, Benny. This community has been inspiring me daily for the last 3 1/2 years!
This is a great community Benny, welcome to Stage 32.
Appreciate the good words, Jim.

Expand postHi Everyone Just wondering what music everyone likes listening to that you would recommend? Who are you a fan of? My recommendation for you all is Barry Manilow and his iconic original album "15 Minutes" it tells a story about a guy who wants fame, gets it, loses it and has to try and get it and himself back on track again, it's kind of like a rock opera and I hope you will give it a listen. I'm a huge Barry Manilow fan so I maybe a little biased but I know what I'm talking about when I tell you how good this album is! Apart from Barry, I like The Beatles (I'm from Liverpool, of course I do lol!), Queen, The Who, Michael Buble, Elbow, Birds of Tokyo, Melody Gardot, Imelda May, Lady Gaga and many others. So, introduce me to your music, what are you a massive fan of and what else do you like to listen to? Best Lana
I've been listening to Imagine Dragons recently, but I generally listen to Black Stone Cherry, Skillet, and Alter Bridge, with any really good song by any other artist thrown into the mix. I've currently got Fallen from Night Visions (ID) 0plau

My passion is writing which is still a work in progress as I am yet to be published. I have a completed children's book awaiting publication and I'm currently working on a book that will form part of a series of books about a Detective in Scotland Yard. I have many interests outside of writing from music, to movies to football. Look forward to getting to know you all and forge connections. Best Lana
May I suggest you check out my publishers http://americastarbooks.com - ( I have published 6 books and they are the best!)
Welcome, Lana. Terrific to have you here.

Expand commentLana, if I had your job, assuming I didn't have to focus TOO much mental energy into it, I'd probably think up a story involving etrade theft or espionage or something. Maybe a computer programmer designs a banking program that steals fractions of a penny off of every transaction. Think of that. The numbers round up, no one misses less than a penny. Over the course of time. billions of transactions...you do the math. Of course, in the best case scenario I'd have the script completed and sold before I got fired for day dreaming on the job.

Expand commentPatrick, I have ideas already around that and I have a title for the book too for when I get round to writing it. I'm working on a project right now (in between work and eating and sleeping) which is about half done and there will be more books in that series to follow. So many ideas so little time as work gets in the way

Ye, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans. Don't let anyone at work know what your story is about or they might think you're planning something for real. :)
I like the John Lennon quote Patrick! Oh no, I never reveal what my ideas are for stories so I will be tight lipped on that one and oh so typically British lol!
I just remembered an old movie where a guy works at the Federal Reserve Bank and all day long day dreams about robbing the place. Then someone comes in who can read minds. It's pretty funny. But I can't remember where I saw it or what it was called.
